About me

As a dedicated and compassionate school counselor, I am committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. With 17 years of experience in education and counseling, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to my role. My approach to counseling is student-centered and holistic, recognizing the individual needs and strengths of each student. I prioritize building strong relationships based on trust, empathy, and respect, creating a safe space for students to express themselves and explore their concerns. I am passionate about promoting mental health and well-being within the school community. Through individual counseling, group sessions, and proactive interventions, I work collaboratively with students, families, and staff to address a wide range of issues including academic challenges, social-emotional development, and crisis intervention. Additionally, I am skilled in implementing evidence-based strategies and interventions to support students' academic success and personal growth. Whether it's facilitating workshops on study skills, providing career guidance, or advocating for students' needs, I am dedicated to empowering students to reach their full potential. Furthermore, I am committed to ongoing professional development and staying informed about current best practices in counseling and education. By continually refining my skills and knowledge, I strive to be an effective advocate and resource for the students I serve.

Black Student Achievement Plan / BSAP - Home

Definition:

Successful Black student achievement is defined by high academic performance, strong social-emotional awareness and management, and a positive cultural identity. Futhermore, strategies and methods utilized to cultivate these things shall be directly responsive to the unique needs of Black students due in large to the historic and ongoing social and economic conditions experienced by Black people.

When We:

learn from the Black community and bring the lived experiences of our Black students and families into our instructional planning,
engage Black students and their families in shared ownership to improve conditions for Black students, including personal value attached to education,
support our teachers, school administrators, and staff to deliver academically challenging learning environments, establish data-informed multi-tiered support structures, provide culturally and linguistically responsive pedagogy and equity,
align all district efforts at every level to drive improvement in teaching and learning for Black students,
increase internal and external accountability for the improvement of Black student performance.

Then we will demonstrate multi-year increases in Black student achievement.

Students can choose from minimal education certificate programs to doctorate degrees that lead to exciting high paying careers.
